Why Should We Choose to Re-chip Our Car Engine?

What should we do when your vehicle get slowly as the time goes on. Goodness, you must don't know what to do at this point, Well, don't worry, i will teach you the steps as below. We will explain everything for you.

To make your car chipped does not mean turning it into a potato-based takeaway meal, but it can offer significant gains in power and economy. Every modern car now has an engine chip, which is part of the ECU (electronic control unit), that monitors how much fuel and air goes into the engine as well as the exhaust gases that come out the other end. The main job of the ECU and its chip is to balance power performance with economy and emissions.

To achieve the right balance, car makers have to make a careful judgement about what sort of driving the car will be used for, what sort of engine is fitted and the quality of fuel likely to be put into the car. As a result, the computer programme used for the car engine chip is a compromise to allow for a wide variety of uses and conditions. This is where independent tuning companies come into the mix with engine re-chips, which are also called engine re-mapping. By honing the computer programme, a new chip can focus on making the engine deliver more power for outright performance or improved miles per gallon.

Not all of the gains will be huge as re-chipping tends to work best with turbocharged engines. This is because the new chip can tell the ECU to increase the boost delivered by the turbo into the engine to give greater power at certain revs. In a turbodiesel engine, this usually means increased power low down in the rev range, for stronger acceleration and lower fuel consumption. In a turbocharged petrol engine, the usual aim is to up the car’s performance. Many chipping companies claim to offer power jumps of up to 40%, which in the average hot hatch is a significant improvement over standard.

Not all re-chips are the same, though. Make sure you go with a reputable company; also, your car’s engine has to be in tip-top condition for a re-chip to work effectively, and you may find it needs more regular oil top-ups and even a new clutch due to the uprated power. A drawback of re-chipping a car’s engine is it is likely to invalidate any original manufacturer warranty, if your car is new enough to have this. If you have an older car, a re-chip might not yield the gains you hope for due to the engine being higher mileage and more worn inside.

Another major consideration with a re-chipped engine is you must tell your insurance company the work has been carried out. By re-chipping the engine, your car is classed as modified and that will probably mean a higher premium, so be careful what you wish for.

Another final point is re-chipping a car’s engine does not provide something for nothing. Some re-chips may deliver greater power or fuel economy, but they may come with a lull in power somewhere in the rev range. There is one example to support it, last week, my customer sent me a feedback, he had bought Car Engine Computer Board STA463C ECU Programmer Chip, now he is very satisfied because his car is more faster.

From what i said we can see, whether you wanna improve your car performance is decided by you, there is one point you need to attend, get the original ECU chip if you wanna make your car restore original
